Anchor's Away

Did we mention that we have been hard at work all summer long? Well we have, and we put the story into over drive! Most of the changes have occurred at the beginning of Tears of Fire, where we fine-tuned the settings/beginning as well as the tension between the Smallest Girl and her Tribe. After all, that is what this story is about- the difference between just "following along" or asking poignant enough questions even if it does mean you stand alone against the crowd. But the World is not simply an unchangeable form- it must always transition and transform into new things. We are looking forward to Fall Semester 2013!

Second Draft is Here!

We are here at the end of the semester, and while we feel like this is an accomplishment in it's own right, we are more than aware that this is not even the halfway point!  There is still plenty of work to do!  But for the time being, we are at least pleased to present the first published script!  Please enjoy!

First Draft Done!

I am happy to announce that the first draft of "Tears of Fire" copy is undergoing review as we speak!  Once this gets approved and reviewed by the appropriate resources, then our next stop will be to work on the pictures.

Our concept artist was kind enough to give us a sneak peak of what happens in the book.  Hopefully we are not giving too much much away...

Presenting the Environments...

Although there is still MUCH more to explore, we now have our first Environment Concepts up and ready for review.  Please enjoy.

New Characters Up!

As we get closer to the semester end, so to is our team getting closer to complete the character and concept art.  We are very fortunate to have Demetrius Rivière working on our line work, while Nathaniel Bromwell is providing the color illustration.  At the moment, we are only pending the Air Dragon, which is close to being done!

Character Development Tip - Myers Brigg Test

Today was a success, from what I perceive.  We presented our project and reviewed the overall story arc with the entire class (the Beat Sheet, in other words), and it seemed to be moving to my fellow CMI peers, so I am very excited.  To top it off, our fellow artist, Djimitry, was able to finish the Fire Dragon, and he has gotten close to perfecting the Earth Dragon.

At this point, there is one last change that remains for the Beat Sheet: The Smallest Girl's transformation story.  Although it is clear that the Tribe itself goes through a major change, and one of the Dragon's certainly goes through a major change, the Smallest Girl's inner struggles are not as clear.

As an amateur novelist, I have picked up a tip for character development: run them through a Myers Brigg test.  Take a Myers Brigg test in a manner in which you would answer on behalf of your character, as if you were them.  When you get the profile type back, you can study over it and hopefully find out details about your character that you didn't realize were there.

So what personality type is the Smallest Girl?  She's an ENFP: The Idealist, the Champion.
